Submission Specifications.

Saving as PDF

Files should preferably be submitted using our PDF presets, or as PDF version 1.7.

Please take the following into account:

•  For standard locations, technical drawings may be available — these can be requested from us
•  Submit files at actual size; for large-format prints, use a 1:10 scale
•  Add a 1 cm bleed on all sides of your design*
•  Do not include any crop marks or registration marks
•  Embed all fonts completely or convert them to outlines
•  Remove all invisible layers from the layout
•  Do not use overprinting in your files.

*The required bleed may vary per product. As a general rule, use 1 cm bleed on all sides.

If the files do not fully comply with the above specifications, unexpected deviations may occur. Maxtension will always send a draft PDF proof for approval. Production will start once the proof has been confirmed.

If you’re unable to prepare your files according to these specifications, please contact us at studio@maxtension.nl or call +31 (0)35 69 53 711.

Colour Usage

•  You may submit files in CMYK or RGB
•  Do not use greyscale or LAB colours
•  Linked ICC input profiles are used by (as, in plaats van by, wellicht) default. If these are missing, the European ISO Coated FOGRA27 or sRGB input profile will be applied.
•  PMS spot colours are converted to CMYK values from the PANTONE Color Bridge Coated library.
•  The use of overprinting and/or transparency in combination with spot colours may cause errors.
•  Please note: PMS spot colours in print are always an approximation. A test print is available upon request.
•  Printing is digital, and colours are always approximate.

Resolution

The resolution depends greatly on the intended use of the printout. Use the following as a guideline:

  • Scale 1:1: 12 tot 30 dpi
  • Scale 1:10: 120 tot 300 dpi
  • Scale 1:1: 30 tot 70 dpi
